Last year, at a reception for the African/American Summit conference in
Senegal (a conference attended by Jesse Jackson and the late Ron Brown),
the Club Med Senegal resort staged a skit in which two white staff members
appeared in blackface, with white lips, garish clothes and white gloves,
to perform a musical number, and a riot nearly ensued. Last May, offended
organizations and individuals filed a $5 million lawsuit against Club Med
in New York.

"They know what they're doing," says Anne McCall-Simms, manager of the
Skydome Hotel, the $350/night accommodations built into the Toronto Blue
Jays' stadium. They are couples who happily fornicate (& more) during
games with the curtains open. Though such incidents are rare - three
since the hotel opened in 1990 - the latest occurred on Mother's Day, and
Howard Starkman, a Jays spokesman, says, "It was quite prolonged." Fan
reaction? "A roar. Nobody asked for a refund." By now the problem is
a treasured local oddity, but hotel officials, fed up, are drafting a new
check-in warning that promises speedy ejection of play pals. "We're a
family hotel," says McCall-Simms.
