Artillery of the 9th Virginia, Company B

"The Baltimore Artillery"

Two year ago, members of the 9th Virginia, Company B were asked by the Maryland Park Service if they would like to be trained to operate their new 12 Pound Napoleon.  Members were instructed by Mr. Al Preston, Head Ranger for The South Mountain Battlefield Park, which includes Greenbrier, and Gathland State Parks.  The training consisted of four weekend training sessions that included in-classroom and hands-on preparation of the gun. They were taught the proper firing procedures, handling of misfires and the proper way to assemble the "shell".

Here are some of the members of the 9th Virginia in action and yes, they are Yankees also!
