The demand for copies of Bullet Penetration continued after all the books in the original printing were sold by December 2002.   This result was unquestionably a result of the fact that Bullet Penetration has become widely recognized as a classic in the field.   Bullet Penetration achieved this status through favorable reviews in publications, word of mouth, and word on the Internet. The continuing demand led to a decision to make a second printing of Bullet Penetration. 

               This republication is called a second printing rather than a second edition to reflect the fact that the text has only relatively small changes from the first printing.   These changes include small modifications that will not be noticed by most readers and two more substantive modifications (also relatively small).   The small modifications include errata and format changes.   The more substantive changes are a text addition providing a more generalized method of correcting penetration test data for the effect of non-standard gelatin and a two page modification rewriting comment on and description of the recommended preparation of ballistic gelatin.  

               Sale of the second printing Bullet Penetration books will be handled quite differently from the first printing.   Part of the reason for the original decision to not have a second printing was reluctance to make the commitment to this activity.   This problem was solved when Shawn Dodson of Tactical Firearms agreed to handle this.   Shawn is one of the good guys who is reliable and continually attempts to promote sanity in this field; we have coordinated efforts to this end many times over the years.   Accordingly, orders for the second printing Bullet Penetration books can be placed only by ordering though this site.   Any orders received at Ballistic Publications will be forwarded to this order site for processing, so it will be more efficient and quicker to order directly from this link.
