POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Posted November 17, 1998 Multnomah County Library Library Computer Systems Operator Multnomah County Library has immediate openings for two full-time, Computer Systems Operators. These positions will perform a variety of computer operations support for the Library's automated mainframe servers and PC operations, including phone support to library staff and patrons. Requires two years of responsible computer operations and networking support experience on PC's and medium computer systems (experience with Windows NT is desirable). Also requires the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional formal specialized training in computer operations and networking is desirable. Salary: $15.46 - $19.02 per hour. Team Developer Multnomah County Library is seeking five team developers to work with the reference staff of its beautiful, newly renovated Central Library in downtown Portland, Oregon. Team developers will be part of the Central Library Management Team and will report to a Central Library Associate Director. They will work in a coaching role with natural workgroups and cross-functional teams, developing the capacity of teams and individuals to coordinate daily operations, analyze and articulate resource needs, insure quality public service, manage projects and develop team and personal performance plans . They will also perform standard supervisory duties such as employee selection, recruitment, training and evaluation using strategies that promote team involvement. Requires the Equivalent to a Master's Degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. library science, public administration, business, education, etc.). Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent may substitute two additional years' relevant experience for the advanced degree. Also requires Three years progressively responsible experience in an organizational environment emphasizing team approaches, continuous quality improvement and learning organization principles. Experience in a library or information services environment is highly desirable, but candidates with other relevant backgrounds who can demonstrate a knowledge of and commitment to public library service are encouraged to apply.
