FOURTH GENERATION

8. Abraham P PHILLIPS (6) was born in Dec 1829 in Bayham Twp, Elgin Co, Ontario. Dec 1832 is given on 1900 census report. By marriage certificate, Abraham should have been born 1829 if in December. By 1880 census when his age appeared as 50, 1829 is also suggested. When committed to the asylum in Feb 1906, his age was stated as 76, which also points to 1829. He was a farmer on 31 Aug 1871 in Brockway Center, St Clair Co, MI.(6) He owned 80 acres of land in section 16 in 1876 in Brockway Twp, St Clair Co, MI.(18) He appeared on the census on 7 Jun 1880 in Brockway Twp, St Clair Co, MI.(8) He is described as white, male, age 50, widowed, farmer. His first name appears as "Abram" and his birthplace as Canada. Both of his parents are shown as having been born in Canada as well, though this was probably not true of his father. He died between 1906 and 1910 in Pontiac, Oakland Co, MI. (19) (He was committed to the Eastern Michigan Asylum for the Insane on this date, and the actual date of his eventual death remains unknown. He does not appear as a resident of the asylum on the 1910 federal census.) He was married to Elizabeth A FISHER on 3 Nov 1861 in Bayham Twp, Elgin Co, Ontario.(20)

9. Elizabeth A FISHER (6) was born on 18 Dec 1832 in England. (8) Description: of English-born parents according to the 1880 US Census. However, on her youngest son's birth certificate her birthplace appears as "Ireland". Elizabeth was born after 01 Jun 1831 and before 01 Jun 1832 if we accept her age given as 48 on the 1880 census. When she married Abraham on 03 Nov 1861 her age was given as 29, which points to a birthdate also in 1832 or perhaps Nov/Dec of 1831. She died on 2 Jun 1880 in Yale, St Clair Co, MI. She appeared on the census on 7 Jun 1880 in Brockway Twp, St Clair Co, MI. (8) Description: as white, female, age 48, married to Abraham Phillips despite the fact that she had died on 02 Jun and Abraham was listed as "widowed" on the line above. Her birthplace appears as England, as do her parents' birthplaces She was buried in Elmwood Cem, Yale, St Clair Co, MI. Children were:
