Some Important 2001 Juiced Ball League Dates:
* Sunday, February 25, 2001 - Every team must commit to keeping or dropping their ballpark for the upcoming 2001 season. If you drop your 2000 ballpark, you will be allowed to select another home field in the upcoming ballpark draft (or you may reselect your 2000 ballpark if it is still available). Also, any rules proposals for the upcoming season must be submitted by this date. Please keep in mind, rules adopted prior to the 2001 season do not go into effect until the 2002 season. Both rules proposals and ballpark commitments are due to the CFL no later than 10:00 p.m. CST. Please note, if you do not respond by this deadline it will be assumed you have no rules proposals and your are keeping your 2000 ballpark.
* Sunday, March 4, 2001 - Voting will take place on all rules proposals and the 2001 ballpark draft will be completed if it has not been completed already. Your votes must be in no later than 10:00 p.m. CST and you will be contacted when your turn comes up for the ballpark draft. If you are going to be hard to get ahold of, get your selection(s) to the CFL or Brad early. Teams that opted to keep their 2000 ballpark will show as a "PASS" in this draft. Also remember, the ballpark draft is in reverse draft order (the World Series winner selecting first and the worst regular season record selecting last ... you can determine your draft position by referring to to the 2001 Natural Draft Sequence chart above, and reading bottom to top)
Sunday, March 11, 2001 - Cutdown Day ... Every team must have their 20 protections to Brad no later than 10:00 p.m. CST. Protected rosters will be posted as soon as they are available that night. Teams that have acquired protections spots can obviously protect as many players as they have spots for and teams that have traded spots away can only protect the number they still have spots for. Some things to remember: Each team is allowed a maximum of two (2) rookie or never-been-carded players on their roster. You can protect two of these players if you have them but you would then not be able to draft another. No owner may draft more than one (1) of these players in any draft and that applies to any team with zero (0) or one (1) already on their roster. Players with no card this year (generally because of injury) but have had at least one card in a previous season are not included in this formula. Any team is allowed to protect up to one previously carded player who did not receive a card this year. Next, please check your rosters and keep in mind that players in italics are guaranteed roster spots this year because they were activated off of a taxi squad last year. Lastly, the players you protect, unlike previous seasons, do not have to be designated as active or taxi squad until after the draft. You will name your eight (8) man taxi squad from your 40 man roster after the draft.
March 25, 2001 - Draft Day 2001 ... The draft will take place at the residence of our beloved CFL beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. Please don't come much earlier than 8:45 a.m. but be prompt ... if you aren't there when your pick rolls around, you "PASS" and that pick is added to the end of the draft. As always, the deadpile moves will begin Monday the 26th with the first three teams having moves and will proceed through Thursday the 29th. Friday the 30th is the an open moves day and Saturday, March 31 is the official opening day of the 2001 JBL season. The CFL is on a tight schedule on draft day so the plan is to order pizza this year. Feel free to bring drinks and/or munchies etc. Good Luck!
