MOTEL HELL

"Yeah, I'm Psycho ... so what?"

March 14, 2000

The Bates Motel franchise, a proud member of the Juiced Ball League, announced Tuesday it plans to remain status quo and draft 10th in the upcomingJBL Draft. Bates Motel had entered into negotiations with a certain "weasel" about a deal that would guarantee the rights to catcher Ben Davis, highly coveted by the Motel, but the club announced it would end all talks with said weasel. If, as is expected, the player noted above is chosen before the Motel's assigned draft slot, the Motel most likely expects to take a pitcher.

"We feel one of the top-notch pitchers will slide to the 10th spot, and we will be able to secure a pitcher who will help us now and in the future," Motel CEO J.D. Bates said. "As far as a catching prospect, it's time to move on from Ben Davis, and evaluate other upcoming prospects behind the plate. We may use our 'prospect draft' slot to draft a catcher."

-- In an unrelated announcement, the Motel also announced construction on a new Web site was progressing and the club anticipates it to be ready for use by Draft Day.
