William L. Dok was born on October 18, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University (B.B.A. 1958) and received his J.D. from the University of Santa Clara (now Santa Clara University) in 1961. He was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1962.

He exclusively practices family law in Santa Clara County.

In addition to continuing legal education, family law bar professional activities, and serving as judge pro tem, mediator, and as a private judge in family law cases, Mr. Dok's activities include:

• President, Barristers Club of San Jose, 1965-1966
• Member: Santa Clara County Bar Association (Secretary, 1967-1968; Member, Board of Trustees, 1969-1971; 1974-Present)
• Member, Family Law Section, Executive Committee, 1974-Present

Mr. Dok is also a certified specialist in the area of family law, certified by the state bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. He is listed in "The Best Lawysers in America" and is a frequent lecturer on Family Law subjects for the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and the University of Santa Clara School of Law.
