Well just what is a "Nuker" anyway? Forget your IRC definition... Forget
your military definition.... In nuclear power plant slang it's someone
who figures out how something works or doesn't work. A friend of mine from
work and I were playing around with a modem one night and I got us connected
up to a BBS. Of
course you had to log in and you needed a handle for that. I was kinda
at a loss for one. He suggested "Nuker" and for lack of a better idea I
used it... and still do over a decade later. It does fit I guess. I do
love to tinker and figure out what makes things work.
And yes... as you have probably guessed by now I do work at a nuclear power plant. I'm a Chief Shift Operator at the Nine Mile Point Unit One nuclear power plant, owned and operated by Constellation Energy Group. And NO... any glowing in the dark I might do is not caused by radiation!
I have an AAS Degree in Agricultural Engineering from Alfred
State College. The career path got where it is today out of economics
and fate I guess. I spent my pre-school years on a dairy farm and then
worked on a muck farm during my high school years. I was a member of the
Future Farmers of America or FFA and
held the State office of Reporter during my senior year of high school.
The local chapter of the FFA is long gone here... a victim of school budget
problems and a poor administration during the early '80's.
I'm also a biker... the kind that rides motorcycles, not those pedal things!
My current ride is a 1200 cc Suzuki Madura. I take a fair amount of BS
from my fellow bikers about "Jap Scrap" but it's all in good fun. I mean
it's like everyone doesn't have to oil the roads to keep the dust down
right? You can check out some of my biking activities here on my site on
the Azz Dogz pages. There are
lots of biking pictures from places we have been and things we do. I ski, both downhill and cross country and enjoy a good hike or camping out on occasion. On a summer night you my just find my motorcycle parked along the shore of Lake Ontario near Oswego, NY somewhere and me hiking along the beach, drinking a Coke, and checking out a sunset. I'm divorced, so I'm still sorting out all the parts of my life and putting them back together again. I have three great kids! All of them with busy lives of their own. My oldest daughter is graduated from college, married now, working as a nurse. My younger daughter is in college now and out on her own holding down a full time job as well. I know how hard that is firsthand , having worked my way through college too. My son is senior in high school, heavily involved in swimming, and other sports. Well I guess that's it for now..... hope you enjoy your visit to my site. |
