9/19/03: Big stuff happening.

First: my first novel for Gold Eagle is due out in November - which means it should really be available Any Minute Now.

It's not, however, one of my Deathlands novels, but the first book I did for the spinoff Outlanders series. It's Outlanders #27 AWAKENING, formerly PHOENIX RISING. You can check it out here.

Here's the skinny on three of the other four novels I've done for Gold Eagle:

Outlanders #29 SUN LORD (formerly THUNDER CHARIOT), on sale May 2004

Outlanders #31 ULURU RUN, on sale November 2004

Deathlands #68 SHAKING EARTH (title not yet final), on sale December 2004.

My second Deathlands novel, originally titled VENGEANCE TRAIL, appears not yet to be scheduled. I'll keep you posted.

All novels for both series are published under the house pseudonym of James Axler.

Interestingly, at least to me, SUN LORD is a sequel to SHAKING EARTH, set a hundred years later (and with precisely one character in common.) But it comes out seven months earlier. Such are the vagaries of publishing lead times.

I'm in the process of finalizing a contract to do four more Outlanders novels. Cool!

I just delivered the manuscript for MechWarrior: Dark Age #10: FLIGHT OF THE FALCON to WizKids. It's scheduled for publication June 2004. I don't think I'm supposed to spill any specifics, but if you're at all familiar with MechWarrior: Dark Age or its predecessor BattleTech, the title alone should tell you something. . . .

The apparition in question being me.

Archon 27 is on deck in St. Louis, October 2-5, 2003. As always I'll be Master of Ceremonies for their world-class masquerade Saturday night. It's a great con, great people, and the masquerade would be amazing even if I weren't emcee.

Also, I'll be reading parts of my novella, "The Great Broadway Corpse Drive" Thursday night, October 2, at 9 PM. It's the first of my Ghost Hunter yarns, fantasy adventures set in modern-day Albuquerque. They're about young fraternal twins Tian and Wanshang Wu, who use bleeding-edge quantum physics and ancient Taoist alchemy to make their livings dispelling destructive hauntings, under the avaricious auspices of their wheelchair-bound father, former Los Alamos scientist Dr. Frank Wu. Ghosts, guns, and gongfu - they make this country great!

You may have noticed a Blue Triceratops Head at the top of the page (if you didn't I'm doing something way wrong.) If you're alert, and have your browser loading images (you're forgiven if you do not - I generally don't bother, myself) you may have noticed a few other Blue Triceratops Heads scattered here and there.

Just a hint: get used to him.
